When a crown is needed
After a root canal on a back tooth, when a cusp has fractured off, or when so little tooth remains that a filling has nothing to hold onto.

A crown wraps the tooth and stops it splitting — which is usually the point at which a tooth becomes unsaveable.
Bridges
A bridge spans a gap using the teeth either side as anchors.

It is quicker and cheaper than an implant, but those anchor teeth must be prepared, so we will always show you the implant comparison before you decide.
Why we avoid metal cores
Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns hide a metal substructure that shows as a grey line once the gum recedes, and it blocks light in a way that never looks quite alive. All-ceramic crowns transmit light like enamel does.
